Le Creuset 1.8-qt. Enamel on Steel Classic Whistling Teakettle (Linen)

Fundamentally flawed design
This teakettle has a fundamentally flawed design. Le Creuset's traditional heavy enamel-on-steel construction is good for a pot that should heat up slowly, distribute heat evenly, and hold heat for a long time, like a dutch oven, but this is not what a teakettle needs to do.

The Le Creuset teakettle only works safely with exactly the right amount of water. If you put too little water in the teakettle, when the water is finally boiling (did I mention it's very slow?), the spout has become very hot, and the water tends to explode when it hits the spout, resulting in a spray of boiling water all over your counter. If you put too much water in the teakettle, when it boils it blasts out the spout and all over the stove (never leave this kettle unattended in the kitchen, as it may put out gas burners). You need to have the water high enough to partially fill the spout, but not so high that it will blow out the spout when boiling. But how can you know how much water is in the...

Beautiful kettle for a great price
This kettle is very durable and attractive. The line color will match with anything and has a nice graded look to it.
